What is the general opinion on stacked leather handles on using knives and how do they compare to micarta for comfort and durability

A stacked leather handle should outlast you, provided it's given minimal care. I treat my Marble's Campcraft and Woodcraft with stacked leather grips with SnowSeal every two or three years or so. They're comparable to roughened micarta as far as grip goes, and probably better than smooth micarta. Like micarta, stacked leather is great in cold weather and won't freeze to your skin.

I saw an excellent one a while ago but not sure where? Maybe over on British Blade Forums??

I've been carrying my Marble's leather stack for 20 years, with many deer, elk, and feral hogs butchered. It's still my "go to" hunting knife, and the leather is in great shape. I don't think it's as bullet proof as micarta, but more grippy unless the micarta is left very rough. I use both on knife handles, depending on the knife.
