So just curious if anyone here has purchased the new strongarm (if you'll even admit publicly you bought a Gerber lol) from what lil reviews I've seen it seems like a solid usa made knife with a well thought out sheath. Of course it's not made of the best steel, but neither was the prodigy and it took everything I've thrown at it without a hiccup.

What I like is the fact they finally listened and made it in both fine edge and serrated so the consumer can choose what suits there needs..

If anyone has it let me know how you like it so far.

Had one about 2 weeks, seems decent, sheath really has a lot of options for carry.

I like it.

I first saw it in a chain store in tx I was working in. I didn't buy it as I wanted to find more info on it first...and I figured if that chain store sold it then the same chain where I live in sc would also have it...wrong only ones they have here are the serrated version no fine edge...been looking all over and no place locally carries it yet, and online it's sold out of the coyote fine edge pretty much everywhere, I'm probably gonna pick one up when I can, just figured I'd get opinions of current owners first.

Looks kinda cool from the video I saw on YouTube on it. I was going post it here, but I dont think that retailer is a member of this website so I dont want to break any forum rules.

Finally got my hands on one, driving thru Virginia I made a stop into knifecenters office. Lucky they had 1 in stock.

First impression of the knife is it's actually really well thought out, the sheath gives several carrying options that all work really well. One other option I would've liked to been included is a way for a higher vertical carry where your belt goes thru where the knife snaps into the sheath removing the nylon portion instead of drop leg only. It could've snapped in the same way the scout carry adapter goes in.

Other than that I have no complaints so far, it came out the box shaving sharp with an evenly ground edge. Handle is comfortable and grips well in the hand. I look forward to testing it out, if it performs as well as the prodigy then this will be an excellent low cost knife with an actual fine edge.

I think Gerber is heading in a great direction with some of their new USA made offerings. I am excited to see what they bring to Blade if anything.

Yea I definitely agree, they may not use top of the line steel, but you're also not paying top of the line price to own one... I won't even consider a China made Gerber anymore, but there U.S.A. made knives are actually a quality product.

I own a couple Gerbers including 2 prodigy's, lmf2, big rock, Freeman, one of there multi tools, and now the strongarm. The ones that are USA made are solid knives that I'd rely on in a survival scenario, and I think this strongarm will be no different.

The Chinese made Freeman broke with mild use, 1/2" snapped off the tip. The big rock has held up so far, but wouldn't bet my life on it.

I have one of the coyote brown plain edge strongarms and love it. It's a nice little knife at a good price.
I plan get a black one as well. I love that they finally made a USA made knife with a plain edge. I also really like the sheath, it's very easy to remove and replace the knife and it's very secure.

Yea they finally answered everyone's request for a plain edge option. If they'd offer the lmf2 in a plain edge in 1095, a harder hilt material like either the strong arm or prodigy, ditch the electrical shock bs and make it a true full tang, and a sheath set up similar to the strongarm I think they'd have a very popular seller on there hands. I know plenty of guys who wanted to like the original but couldn't get past it's serrations, it's soft hilt material that peels and plastic that breaks if accidentally hit and the ominous lack of a full tang.

Does anyone know what sort of tang this knife has?

Almost full, just covered by the grip material. Goes all the way through into a glass breaker point. I don't think it's a separate piece like on the LMFII.
