Opinion on this knife?

to buy a China made knife with unknown steel. You could get a Cold Steel Bushman for $20 or a Mora 2K for $30. I think I'd trust the humble surplus Pilot Survival Knife @ $30 before a bowie with mystery steel. If price is a concern (I know it is for me) you could also look at the Benchmade Fecas Gamer (Red Class), I think it goes for about $30 (it's kinda thin, though). Good hunting.

I think I'd sooner buy a Becker of one kind or another. I have my doubts about that handle holding up to much chopping. I'd really like to know how much tang is inside that handle as well as the details of the steel.

How about buying it and letting us know how it works out? a lot of so-called cheap knives can end up surprising you. While I would rather lose a digit than buy United Cutlery type crap I did have a Khyber knife from Atlanta Cutlery that stood up to a lot of abuse which was made in India.

Nice looking knife but on the downside.
1. unkown steel
2. unkown country
3. scale tang, I perfer a full tang for strength especially in a camp knife which will see hard use.
Look around and I think you could find something better for around the same price, bk&t,cold steel etc. That being said if you really like it go for it. It might be the best knife in the world, if not you're only out $35. later ahgar

The price is still too high for Made in China...

Benchmade Gamer is the way to go--it will be 5X the knife.

I wouldn't buy it either. I would buy what some of the other folks have suggested.

I am going to get one and check it out - the other Browning knives I have have been pretty decent. I will report back. By the way, where can I get a Cold Steel for $20, or a Mora for $30? I am still kind of new to buying knives over the internet - what are the good/discount sites?

Finding a well-made Bowie knife for $30 is like finding a reliable-running car for $300...... It ain't happening!

Strange you should mention that, Monocrom. Our current vehicle is an '89 Toyota Tercel hatchback we paid exactly $300 for. Best running little car we've ever had. Not meaning to be nit-picky or anything, just thought it was funny.

And to the topic creator, try looking for a Cold Steel Bushman on Ebay, should be able to find one for less than $20. For Moras, try Ragweed Forge. And for a good site to buy knives in general, New Graham Knives.

Just my 2 cents but it seems a shame to spend $27 bucks on a Chinese Bowie made with an unidentified stainless steel when you can pick up a Becker BK7 for about 20 bucks more. Becker knives were specifically designed for soldiers and outdoorsmen who need a sturdy tool that can stand up to plenty of hard use. The BK7 has a 7" flat ground blade of 0170-6C carbon tool steel and at a price of $44.95 it's a great buy.

Wow! That Becker looks like a lot of knife for the money. I am being persuaded! What kind of steel are they made of?

LOL ........ That is funny. But was it reliable when you got it, or did you have to invest a few $$$ to make it so.

A nice Bowie for a very reasonable amount would be the one that Camillus sells, under the "Western" brand-name.

Monocrom, it was reliable when we got it, strangely enough. We really lucked up, because you're right, it's very nearly impossible to find a running car for that price nowadays, much less a reliably running car.

And I can heartily recommend Ka-Bar.
