Just looking for some opinions from folks who have or have seen this makers work, or even this particular model. A search revealed nothing negative about Mr. Chamblin. I have the large Maverick coming tomorrow from Jay and Karen at AZCK. BTW, Karen and Jay are GREAT to deal with! I reccommend them highly. But back to the topic at hand. All feedback is welcomed so let me hear it. I had a choice between the Maverick and the Delta II, both are about the same size but I went with the G-10 on the Maverick over the CF on the Delta II. If you have either of these and have an opinion I would like to hear it. Thanks in advance.

Hi Art,
I have known Joel for a while and consider him and his wife friends so I am a little prejudice, but I like his work(have not seen anything out of him in 5 or six years that I would not like to own). It is up there with some of the finest. If you want Joel's email address let me know or you can get it off of his web site .

Pick the one you like the best. I think you will be happy with that one

Les Robertson of www.robertsoncustomcutlery.com carries Chamblin's knives. I know that if Les is a fan, then the maker is outstanding in a number of areas. You might even consider asking Les about Joel in his forum Here

My impression is that Mr. Chamblin makes outstanding knives that are an exceptional value considering the quality of his work. I almost bought one of his 'Lancaster' folders from Les a couple of months ago. Someone pulled the trigger before I did and I missed getting the knife. Enjoy your Chamblin!

Joel is a honorable craftsman and a gentleman.

You should be very pleased with his work. It's first rate.

I have carried a small wharncliff of Joel's for almost 2 years. I still admire it every day.

Don't worry you made a good choice.

Hi Art,

I met Joel about 8 years ago at a gun show here in Augusta, GA. He was selling stag handled and bolstered lock backs for $125.00.

He complained he couldnt compete with the low price custom hunters. I told him he had two choices, sell the cheap custom hunters or make the knives you have the potential for.

Im sure as you hold the knife in your hand, you know what he opted for.

I think dollar for dollar Joel is one of the best knife makers around today.

Re-reading your post I can see that you only made one mistake!

Les,
That actually took me a minute to figure out! I went as far as to check for spelling and puncuation. LOL. I will be back to ya'.

On to the knife. I understand what you mean. This has quite a feel to it. Fit and finish is great! It is slim yet fills my hand and is absolutley crisp to open. The grinds are excellent and I love the simple block lettering of the name and steel stamped on the blade! I would have to agree that it seems I got more knife than I paid for! So impressed that I went ahead and ordered the Delta II!

The finish on the bolsters and blade are as nice as I've seen in a while. I usually go for a heavier and beefier feel but this seems just right. I think Jay told me about 4ozs. and for the size of the knife it has a good solid feel! I like this!!

Thanks for all of the comments folks. Keep them comming.

Can someone tell me how Joel finishes the titanium on the plain bolsters? It's sort of polished and seems to hold up so well.

The Mad Poet turned me on to Joel's knives. I think he carried the wharncliff for about a year. He commented on how well the bolsters held up to his use.

While you in your buying spree- pick up the wharncliff to finish off your tactical collection.
