Anyone here own the BM AXIS Flipper 300-1? If you don't mind can I have your opinion on this knife?

I do not own this knife but it is on my short list of knives I am interested in. My main concerns are weight and thickness. Not sure it is a good choice for EDC. It does look cool though.

The 300 should've been either a flipper or an Axis based knife, but not both. The extra chunkiness to accommodate the Axis lock made it a chore to carry in the pocket. I liked the scales and blade shape, although the blade itself could've been a bit longer to better balance the weight of the thing, IMO.

This knife appears to be very polarizing based on the reviews out there. I bought one two weeks ago, and very much like it. It is a chunky knife, but it gives you quite a bit to grip onto while cutting. I like the blade shape, as well as the grippines of the cut out G10 scales. Opening action is not too bad, and the knife is addicting to play with. The overall width of the knife may limit it as an EDC.

I say if you like the way it feels, go for it.

The Sand colored one was too thick for me. Then I tried the blue one and was pleasantly surprised. It was a fun little knife. It took some practice to get the flipping action down, but still if you like the design, it is worth it.

I had one, liked it, it was really smooth opening, but id have to agree about it being little bulky for some people to EDC.
It was a fun knife to flip, i lost mine, will try to get one again soon.

I recently acquired the 300 and I am actually pretty pleased. Great action on it. I agree it that it is a tad too thick though. I still like it enough where it gets pocket time regularly.

This. I got one when they first came out and sent it back. To overcome the axis lock when flipping it, I had to loosen up the pivot screw to the point that the blade had way too much play. Not to mention how thick it is compared to how short the OAL is. It's a well built knife but its trying to be too many things at once.

Fully disagree here, but that's why there are different strokes for different folks! :)

I took the thumb studs off mine and it became perfect. It doesn't fly out, but it's a smooth like butter feeling. The axis lock is the additional reason I got it, and it works for me fine. The grip is short and stubby, like the profile of the blade.

They engrave real nice also!:

I agree. I appreciate the various ways of opening. This was my first benchmade, and I couldn't be happier (for the price/comparison). The flipper is so fun I can fiddle with it all day. And the axis lockup is fantastic, now I know :)

I wanted:
Axis lock. Check
Flipper. Check
G10 scales. Check
Design. Check
TANK. CHECK!

Aren't opinions interesting? That's the name of the game. In that light, I also agree with the two posters above. A million years ago I saw my first Benchmade at a friend's home, 'twas a 710HS and I thought it was the ugliest knife I'd ever seen. Since then that knife has become one of my treasured favorites. Who knew? :p

I am interested with this too! I find the Stryker Axis and Presidio Auto are too big for my taste, so I am looking for this or the Nakamura.

This knife doesn't overwhelm me with the thought it is 'big'. It feels medium size, but nevertheless beefy. The blade isn't too long (for my taste, edc) but it is stout for sure. You can beat on it without worry. And the handle has some thick liners, that to me look great and let me know this knife will last. The weight is much more than say a griptilian, again, to me that's a good thing. I understand lightweight is good. But, when it's too light, it can run the risk of feeling cheap. This feels like a KNIFE! Really enjoy this 300. (It may be too much for someone working in an office or at a desk however?)

I wish I could post pictures from my phone... (I take it the only way is to upload to a photo sharing and then paste a link? Is there no direct way from your photo library?)

Thanks man! 5 bucks if you send into Benchmade they engrave literally anything you want. It comes out great. I find excuses to send them in just for the engraving!

Wait is this true? I may need in on this. Does it have to be type, or can it be a line drawing? Is there any link to details? Thanks.

Does look super sick too btw, what's it say?

Thanks man. It's on their website if you just search Benchmade engraving. It looks like they changed their prices a little bit, it's $5 for text but 25 for picture. I don't know what they consider picture though because I've done a few engravings that looked like pictures but we're considered text. Sorry its been a while since i did them so it figures theyd switch it up a bit.

They can literally do anything that you send them as long as it's in a JPEG format. Black and white is the best way to get a solid picture to them.

The translation that I put on has to do with the threefold benediction which is extremely important to me. It says:

May the Lord bless you and protect you:
May the Lord show you kindness and be gracious to you:
May the Lord bestow favor upon you and grant you peace:
