You might want a Swamp Rat model. The new Rat Tail midtech they're doing with Wally Hayes(sp?) is pretty sweet looking.
The 140HS is a good light-duty outdoors knife. It's light, has a neutral balance, and cuts well due to its flat sabre grind (other grinds, such as full-flat or convex may cut better). Handle is very secure and, if you don't use your thumb on its spine, very comfortable. Of course, the spine ridges are there to keep the knife in your hand, so their lack of snuggliness is a welcome tradeoff. Benchmade's M2 is very hard and tough compared to their 154CM and will hold an edge when the 154CM will blunt and will hold an edge or blunt when the 154CM will start chipping out (very small chips, mind you).
M2 can rust, so, if you use it on food, be sure to coat the edge in mineral oil or even non-stick cooking spray. If it won't touch food, most any oil will be good.
Less pointy knives, such as those from Fehrman Knives, Becker Knife and Tool, Swamp Rat Knife Works, Cold Steel, Busse Combat, and many others may serve general outdoors and survival needs better.
