This thing looks like a nice defense knife. Anybody have any opinions on it compared to a SOG Pentagon? I have a Pentagon and was wondering if it would be worth it to spend the extra money on the Boker. The SOG seems a bit brittle. Mine actually developed a chip in the blade from sharpening.

Hi I remember buying one and sending it back. The double edges are not sharp. No in the sense I thought they should be, it's a combat knife and so the edges should be sharp, cutting sharp. Perhaps they think it's only a poker, the tip is pointy and sharp, but on the one I had if you had to slash you'd be dissapointed.

Anyway I exchanged it for the full size one and when I got that one it was a little better. I have since sharpened it myself to the degree I like and am happy with it. But, the smaller the knife, the more important the double edge sharpness on it, I believe, so check that out before you buy it

It's a nice design for a "combat knife", but the steel used for it SUCKS. I had a Boker Mini-Smatchet (made outta the same junk-yard steel), and it wouldn't hold an edge while cutting soft butter, and wouldn't sharpen very well.

I'll take my ATS-34 Camillus Cuda CQB-1 over that Boker AF knife ANYDAY!.:).

It's definitely not meant to be a tactical slicer; it's for poking. The whole idea of the convex side is to create a puncture that is reluctant to seal. And that's the disadvantage -- it's not real useful for everyday non-combat chores.
