I just aquired a 9" blade Tanto 1. Man, is this a brute hunk of steel! I have owned several Sebenzas but have only owned one CR fixed blade. I have a South African made Aviator that I bought in 1986. It's a great piece and I still own it but it's a real pipsqueek compared to this Tanto 1. Let me say I don't like tanto's though. Never have. I got this in a trade and went for it because CR made it like a tanto should be made. That is with a double beveled edge as opposed to a chisel grind. This is by far the nicest tanto fixed blade I've ever held. Leave it to CR to do it right. It is very "weight forward" and seems to be a natural "chopper". With it's 1/4" thick spine extending almost to the tip, this is one strong sucker. The ONE thing that I have liked about tanto blades is their natural tip strength. The factory leather sheath that came with it is nice and is typical CR quality but this thing "begs" for a versatile Concealex sheath.
My question for you 9" owners out there is have any of you compared the different model 9 inchers such as this one and the big Project model and the Sable 1? I like this one a lot but as I say I'm not a tanto fan and am more of a "traditional" blade sort of guy. I might consider trading it for one of the other 9" models and wanted to get your opinions.

I could only afford one of these babies and opted for the Shadow I. Awesome knife, a Project I on steroids! A keeper for sure. Still long for that Project I though
