Ok, I have 2 sketches done, both 5min jobs, so bear with me. I have a 2' length of 1/8" x 2" 440c, and just bought a 1x42 belt sander with an 8" disk on the side. I'm getting it setup to start tomorrow. I'd appreciate any opinions I can get. I've been using knives since I was 5, so just under 15yrs of playing has given me a LOT of knives looked at. If it very closely resembles another maker, not my fault.

4", bad scan took the last cm of handle. Tip is 1cm above centre, dot inside the scale curve is centre. Probably increase belly to increase tip stength, flat grind.

3" design, getting one like this(tweaked to my hand size though) from a maker in about a month.

Going to try making the top one, but knowing me, it'll end up looking more like the 2nd one for size. Haven't decided on handles yet, but it'll be a natural mat'l as will the sheath.

The drawings are so basic that it is hard to tell much about how they will be once theses ideas have become knives. I like the second one better because of the shape of the blade.

The proportions don't seem quite right to me. The handle is way too wide across the scales, and will probably feel really clumsy on a knife that size.
For hunters and knives in that size range I usually make the handle no more than 1.25" (3.175 cm) wide across the scale at its widest point. If you want it to fill your hand more, you just use thicker scale material to round it out.
Just my opinion. One thing that can help you figure your design out is to get some plywood or pine in the thickness that your steel is. Cut it out to make your pattern and see how it feels. Much faster than making it in steel :)

Good luck with your work, VW. I already posted my oppinions at the Spyderco Forum (which I know you'll visit) ;)
I think one knife may look like this:

while the other, like this:

Man Dialex, you do the coolest thing with your computer.
I like the look of the blue handled one, the pictures look
almost real:)

Thanks. Those are just some quick renderings, therefore the "artificial" look ;)
