Hi, Folks...

For those who ever held these two knives, how do they compare ?
In size: do the Manix look bigger and much havier than the para-Millie ?

What do you think of the lock ?

Is the Manix much thicker ?

Thanks in advance,

Andre Tiba - Brazil

The Manix weighs 6.1oz(I think) and is thicker then the Para-Millie. I have 2 knives with the Compression lock, and am very happy with the lock. I am also very happy with my Chinook II. Between the 2 I don't know which one I would decide on. I have a Military and a Chinook II, and I carry them both, so I'm not much help.
:)
It probably depends on your intended use of the knife. Both knives are tough, and probably overbuilt for normal useage. I have been carrying an Endura for 10+ years, and it is still going strong. I imagine my Chinook II will last 10x as long as a FRN Endura. :) My Military I will probably sell someday. I can't decide if I want to keep it. :)

I've been EDC-ing a Manix for a week now. Despite the intitial impression that the knife is way too big to be practical it is suprisingly easy to carry. After using it for everything for a week - now every other knife seems too whimpy and delicate.

I'm really eager about eventually getting a Manix, as for the Para, I handled one at a gun show a couple of weeks ago and it really didn't appeal to me. Thin and very lightweight, I don't think that it is even half the weight of the Manix.

I will probably end up getting one later on, but for right now the Manix is in my crosshairs. :D

The Manix has moved up to the #1 spot on the short list & I plan to snatch one up as soon as my 'play cash' gets right.

I have both. The lock on the Manix tests as stronger ("MBC" rated), but the lock on the Para may be more reliable in a way since getting junk in it shouldn't affect its function. It would take pretty extraordinary circumstances to get either lock to fail. The Manix is simply a heavy-duty lockback -- a time-tested design. The compression lock is new, but very impressive. Take the time to see how it works -- I believe the stop pin would have to pull out of the liners or something along those lines for it to fail. IMO they are both great designs -- both are very ergonomic.

If you're a lefty or strongly prefer tip-up carry, the Manix is your logical choice because it's drilled for tip-up/tip-down and left/right carry.

I've never compared the thickness but I wouldn't be surprised if the Para is thinner.

I carry the Para more because it's lighter and covers all of my daily cutting needs (openning packages, cutting up cardboard, and food prep). If I were going into the woods, however, I'd definitely take the Manix.

When I want to go large, the Manix is the tool. I even find it more comfortable to carry than the Para. When carrying light and small, the Calypso Jr is my choice.
The compression lock on the Para would be my pick, can realy get some speed opening and closing with one hand, and the lock up is solid.
