I ordered my first Spyderco last night, a Sage 1. Now I'd like to place an order for my second knife, and, I'm leaning towards the Sequel.

I don't see much talk about the 707. I like the blade profile, the Axis lock and the aluminum handle. The G-10 insert doesn't seem all that functional from the pictures that I've seen, or the youtube reviews that I've watched. I guess I'm indifferent to that patch of G-10.

Who has one of these? I'd love to know what you like and don't like about it.

I love my 707. Its a great EDC knife. The axis lock is fun to play with and the knife just feels right in my hand. The only gripe I had was the blade was rather dull when I got it. A few swipes on my ceramic rods fixed that right up though:)

The 707 is a real quality knife. I can't recommend it enough.

to be honest i was slightly disappointed. mine has bladeplay, (yes i've played with the pivot). other than that i dont think there is anything wrong with it. maybe i expected more? I would recommend it for light duty tasks because the handle is quite small and thin so there isnt a lot to hold onto
oh and like Bigdaddynero said, it came pretty dull

Your right about the g10 inlay. The finish on the Alum. handles is that just right smooth but grippy feel so no real need accept for aesthetic interest. I think it's the smallest axis lock available and that's it's best roll, dropped into a pocket, a heavy duty gents folder.
Also, my 707 came with the smoothest axis lock I've yet encountered.

I dont have one but played with one for a while and almost got it. I love the design and feel. Smooth, quick, the texturing on the aluminum is great. I contemplate buying this knife every time I see it.

+1 in favor
I've had mine for 2 years, awesome useful shape and perfect size. I have one of STR's Ti lowrider clips but it also fits perfectly in the watch pocket without a clip. My favorite Benchmade knife for actual everyday use.

I have a friend at work that has carried his 707 everyday since he got it about 4 or 5 years ago. He claims that he will never part with it and I am inclined to believe him. He also bought a backup 707 just in case he loses his EDC one.

He absolutely swears by the knife.

One of my favourites!!

An excellent knife, often considered a small 710 for those for whom that is too large to EDC. Highly recommended.

For a higher value similar model, check out the Mini Grip 556. Same size and lock. The blade shape is nearly identical and the steel is identical. Simply has different handle and is much less expensive.

Both are excellent.

Excellent knife. I will say I just sold mine, but only because I wasn't using it enough to justify keeping. The action is incredibly smooth and the Axis lock is fantastic. Great small EDC blade.

Likes others have said, the 707 is a great knife...one of my favorites.

The axis lock is incredibly smooth and my knife blade came very sharp.

I EDC a Benchmade Mini-Grip 551 for work and EDC the 707 for going out to dinner, movies, etc.

One of my favorite buys.

Thanks for all the replies thus far, it's nice to see some positive information about this little EDC.

I like the Griptilian, but the handle material just turns me off, especially for the price. I'd pay the extra money for a Griptilian in G-10 or textured aluminum.

The thought of a thin, all metal folder with an axis lock and a nice blade profile really makes it easier for me to spend my money on it.

I ordered a 707 recently but the G10 inlay wasn't seated properly so I sent it back. Didn't much like the feel of the aluminum compared to my aluminum CRKT m16. I have a full size Ritter griptillian and might end up getting a 556 instead of the 707, even though it's a bit thicker.

Anyone know if there was ever a version of the 707 with full g10 handles, or anything other than aluminum?

They made a nearly identical model with Blackwater branding that had full G10 handles with a large Blackwater emblem on them, and a slightly different blade (more recurve as I recall, but not drastic). They have also made some limited edition models with un-coated aluminum handles which I suspect would feel different. Those had S30V or D2 blades as I recall.

There was also the earlier 705 which is basically a mini-710, that had full G10 handles (one special edition had silver twill G10), but they're hard to find now.

There is the discontinued 705. Awesome knife, definitely in my top 3 of favorite EDC knives. Snatch it up if you see one, they are hard to come by.

I have the very similar 16707. I am not a fan of recurves, but this is very slight and a super looking profile. I also prefer the full G10 scales. I'm a Spydie nut but this BM has managed to remain a favorite for EDC.

Great knife, one of my favourites. I consider it to be a heavy duty gentleman's folder.

I love my 707. It's my most carried knife because it so weightlessly disappears into the pocket of a sportcoat. The handle is indeed small but not to the point where it's uncomfortable to use (and I have big hands). I love the fact that the blade is just about as long as the handle. In fact, the reason I chose the 707 over the Mini-Grip is because they both have the same length blade but the 707 is noticeably smaller and thinner than the Mini-Grip when closed. But my favorite feature of the 707 is the action. There aren't enough O's in smooth to describe the way the 707 opens and closes. In that respect it feels as well put together as any $400 folder I've come across. IMO, the 707 is the perfect take-to-the-office knife.
