I`m going to be offering these as an "entry level" handmade outdoors knife. I call it the "JK BasiK". Please give me your opinions and thoughts.

Specs:
Overall Length - approximately 8"
Blade Length - approximately 3 7/8"
Thickness - 1/8"
Steel - O1
Handle - oak
Pins - hollow aluminum
Grind - "scandivex" (scandi with a polished convex edge)

There is a thread in my forum, JK Handmade Knives, that shows all the details. I can't go into pricing here.

Depending on my finances and the sheath offered I would buy one. Nice and simple design but very looks very functional.

IMO, the blade is very nice; however, Oak would not be my choice for handle stock. Birch comes to mind.

Looks nice, can't see anything wrong with it. Probably too large and heavy for me to ever carry outdoors (my hiking knife weighs 0.8 oz), but I'd be proud to have that in the collection. :D

Btw, your specs don't mention the weight.

My wife's little digital scale broke.

Sounds like quite a minimalist design, in more ways than one. A video of you batonning with it would be entertaining.

Looks extremely nice. I've always liked your handle design in that it lacks any finger grooves and is a pleasing ,simple hand-filling design that I love.

I too would be concerned with Oak (looks like White Oak). I design furniture and White Oak swells the must due to moisture (up to 5% during application of water-based sealant). I haven't used a ton of wood but find Walnut to be very resistant to swelling.

Micarta is always welcome as well!

The scandivex grind sounds great. I put a similar edge on my Scandi's.
