Just curious if anyone owns one of the Al Mar ultralights, specifically the full size Eagle model. How well does it hold up to daily abuse, edge retention and how strong is the handle? Thanks in advance for any replies.

I own a 50/50 Eagle and although I don't carry it that much it is the BEST pure cutter I own. I use it mostly as a fillet knife. It is extremely well made, very tight lock up even after a alot of openings and closings, very lite wt., and holds an edge like no tomorrow. Point penetrates extremely well and the serrations I have never had to resharpen. The hanlde lock up is solid to say the least. I think it is a little lite wt for a defensive type folder but I am sure if the situation warranted it it could be used with no problem. Hope this helps. Keep'em sharp

I have a Falcon. Like above, it is very well made - very
light - very sharp, and holds its edge forever. When you
put it in your pocket, you don't even know it is there.

Since the ultra lights are made with black micarta
handle slabs and Aus-8 blade steel I'd like to have
one myself. With Aus-8 blade steel being so user
friendly and easy to keep sharp for joe average these
knives are an excellent value in a premuim knife.

Don't be afraid to buy these knives as they have all
the right stuff

My experience has been that over time the lockup loosens or wears and you get "vertical" play. Otherwise good but not as good Calypso's in my opinion but close but more for light use.
