Well, what do you think? Pros/Cons of the thumb button release? Does the button stick out, the photo on Buck's website is at an angle and you can't tell.

I have a mini-taclite, and the release button is slightly raised above the handle material.

I haven't had any issues with disengaging the lock while using the knife, as squeezing the button down to the level of the handle does not disengage the lock. You must push beyond that with a finger or thumb to fully release the lock. The nice thing is that the button keeps your fingers out of the path of the blade when closing it.

The blade itself is a great shape, with a nice pointy tip for fine work, and the ats-34 holds an edge well. The G10 scales are relatively rough, providing excellent grip.

I would recommend it :)

DB,
How is the lock as far as strength? I don't expect it to be a Strider, but I don't want it snapping down on my fingers like my SpyderCard did this past week.

I've got one of the first run with the lower set button. after 2 days of opening and closing and working the button, the knife is very smooth. the liner on mine engages fully at half of the blade.

Jazzman,

The liner lock is actually quite strong, and I feel as confident with the one on the taclite as I can with a linerlock (my usual preference runs to framelocks). Mine also engages at the halfway point on the blade.
