Rcently won a Kershaw Blackou & was interested in finding out how nice a knife I have (or don't have). I've had a 'Chive' in my pocket for years & this one just feels like its bigger brother.

for years and loves it. Never had a problem with the Speed-Safe. It's not a prybar but it is a good slicer.

Great knife, I had mine stolen :(. You shouldn't have any problems with the speedsafe once you get used to opening it. It can be a little hard at first. The blade is nice and sharp, too. The only bad thing about it is the handles, they are plastic. And after nearly a year of carrying it, there was some play where the blade meets the handle. So, it's not the greatest workhorse but overall, it's a pretty good knife. Congratulations :).

Welcome to the Forums!

The Blackout has been in my back pocket for
the last 2 years,i love it.The people in my office
were startled (scared?)at the speed-safe,at first.
Now they borrow it for every cutting chore in the
office.
:p

The Whirlwind is my primary choice for EDC. The only difference between the whirlwind and the blackout are the blades. Speed Safe is the best as far as I'm concerned. I'm planning on buying both the serrated and plain blade versions of the blackout. The earlier models had problems with wimpy springs, but from what I hear that problem has been fixed.

THe "ULTIMATE" for me would be the same knife w/ carbon fiber handle. Does such a beast exist?
