I am looking at getting a Luminox watch (as an engagement present from my fiance), and am particularly interested in the Titanium or SS Seal or the Marine models. Anyone have any opinions?

Also looking for a place that has them at a reasonable price.

Dennis Bible AKA Shootist16 on these Bladeforums is a good bet for impeccable service, and price. The only thing is that I am waiting in line for the titanium model so you'll get one only after I get mine. :D

I've done the Botach thing. They will get your order out, later rather than sooner but someday. They are the current price champ-peens but $10 or $15 you save with them probably isn't worth the headache. Also, shipping prices with them run pretty high, so its not really worth it unless you make a huge order.

TAD AKA www.tripleaughtdesign.com is very good. They probably have the luminox model that you are looking for, unless you are beguiled by another of their offerings.

I would give Patrick at www.tripleaughtdesign.com first shot. As far as best prices, I researched the crap out of it and bought mine at 4abnet.com. Patrick didn't have a captain's watch or I would have bought it from him. Here is the trick: Go to Yahoo shopping and do a search for your watch that gives you Abnet as the vendor. If you access Abnet's page through Yahoo shopping, you don't have to pay shipping. If you go direct you do. I don't know why.

Also, I reccomend taking your watch band (if you have is sized for you at a jewler) and replacing the wrist pins. They are incredibly weak and a desservice to this watch.

My $.02

Flotsam,

The Luminox is a great watch that glows incredibly in the dark. :)

I have also heard the pins are weak and should be replaced before they break.

I bought the model 1561 but the 36mm diameter is just to small for my liking.

I just bought a 40mm Fortis and really like that.:D

Have you heard about pin breakage? In my case, one of the pins was not seated properly at the factory but the pin did not break.

And they are a highly visible watch! And they keep excellent time as well.

I was about to buy a Luminox but this thread on their sub-par customer service http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=161276&perpage=20&pagenumber=1
has put my purchase on hold for now. I could live with the handling/shipping fees to cover their costs, but to refuse to repair Don's watch when the problem rests solely in the Luminox camp serves as fair warning.

I try not to do business with people who don't or won't meet their customers halfway . . . and this impresses me as one of those occasions.

So . . . I'm still deciding and using my old L.L.Bean field watch which keeps really good time but sometimes gets dim toward morning.

There are excellent products and sometimes crappy service. There is excellent customer service with crappy products. And every shade in between. I'm giving them another shot and handling things a bit differently next time.
