I would be interested in any opinions on the Mini Socom. I know that most people on this forum respect MT very highly, however, I haven't seen a lot of comment regarding this particular knife. I would probably use it for EDC. I am interested in your perception of quality, ruggedness, ease of opening, convenience of carry, etc. It is rather expensive, so alternative suggestions would also be welcome. I have looked at the CRKT Kasper/Crawford folder and found it to be very nice for about half the price. Thanks for your comments.

How about the new mini socom elite , it,s a little bit biger than the mini socom. The older mini m/a has a liner lock and the new socom elite has a frame lock , the autos have plunger locks.
The old mini socoms can be found pretty cheap ,saw some m/a mini socoms go for around $60.00 on ebay and you can get a auto for about $125.00.
The mini socom is pretty small so try the fit before you buy.
Small in the pocket , easy to open ,top quality , rugged enoughf to have a lifetime warranty .

I have carried a mini-socom for a couple of months. Good all around pocket knife, meets all my cutting needs. Only thing I do not like about it is the pocket clip. I would prefer it ride lower in my pocket.

The mini socoms are great knives!! However they are alittle too small for me, to be an EDC. Make sure that you get a chance to handle one before you buy. Here is a pic for size comparision against other Microtechs. The Mini Socoms are on the ends

I've been carrying my mini-socom for about 3 weeks now. I have the black blade like the one on the far left in the pic above. My only complaint is the same as geobar, it rides high in the pocket. It came really sharp too! I don't think it's too small, in fact, I think anything over about 3" is getting on the large side for EDC, unless you work outdoors on ranch or something like that.
