I saw some Puma folders in the showcase of a local Academy recently. They looked quite nice. In that I am new to traditional folders, I was wondering what you guys thought of them.

The old models in the green and yellow box or older, pre 92 I believe, were some of the finest knives made. The one's post G/Y box were very good, and the current one's are just O.K. IMHO:D:).

I agree with Bob... good is a errr good word. I got a 3 blade stockman with ivory celluloid handles and its ok, not great or bad. Good walk and talk, nice blades but in all... good. I did see a 3 blade stockman in an Acadamy here in Houston too, stag scales looked good.
I am sure at some point I will by another Puma but right now if I was going to buy another stockman I might look at a Queen, Robeson or even a Camillus or Eye Brand! Just my $0.02

What Bob said. Although the current stag lockbacks are very sweet also. They compare pretty well with the older models. I really have not handled any of the new multiblades or slip-joints, but those older ones are about as good as it gets for that era.

I have handled one of the lockback hunters and it was a nice knife. The stag looked good and the lockup was tight. I think it was about as good as my Buck 110.
