I have been interested in a CQC7A for some time but have been reluctant to get one due to the comments about quality control issues at Emerson and the negative comments about the chisel grind blade. Please let me know your thoughts on this knife. The knife would be used primarily for general utility tasks and as a last resort defensive tool. Also, I notice that the part serrated version can be purchased from SMKW for $70. The cheapest that I have found the plain satin blade model is $86. Is the part serrated that much of a disadvantage to forego the cost savings? Thanks.

I have a 2000 CQC7-A part-serrated blade that I purchased off Ebay a few months ago and its been my 'every day carry' from the day I opened the box. I have several Emersons (Mini-Commander, Mini-CQC7A, Raven) and this one is the sturdiest of them all. It feels like a fixed blade knife. NO blade play laterally or horizontally. I use it hard at work and I trust it for 'hard use' more than my other blades. Shapening took some getting use to but after following the instructions on Emerson's website its now easy and quick. I just wish it was waved.;) Pic below...
