Hey im from Canada and im planning on buying a cold steel ti lite 4 inch zytel from LeBarons and im wondering if it has good feedback.

And i know im asking a second stupid question but, what does wave mean? Like waving a knife or it waves open?

Thanks

Its not a bad knife for the money, but its not very utilitarian. IMO it would be best suited for thrusting in a SD situation and not much else. Mine is the older 440A version, it came razor sharp and had a very strong detent that took quite a while to loosen up to where it could be opened by the thumbstud. Dirt and lint tend to gather in the holes, so taking it apart for cleaning in kind of annoying.

To answer your second question, it does "wave" open similar to how some Emersons and Spydercos do but the latter 2 are much easier on the pocket. The quillion is pretty sharp like a hacksaw blade and will destroy the corners of your pockets after repeated openings.

a nice knife, for thrusting it has a bit of a painfull guard, but the blade shape is perfect for it.
light daily utilty like opening mail ,cutting fruit and opening some boxes is fine too,but don't expect it to be a heavy beater.
it waves, but i don't really like it. sometimes it works and sometimes it don't.
eventualy you get the hang of it and it works almsot everytime, but in a stressfull SD sittuation its guarenteed to fail.
waves one knives like the ones from emerson what tanto fiend said, are better.
they dont destroy your pocket and are easier to use.
the aus-8 on mine is is very good.i once dropped the knife from a balcony, and it landed straight on the tip.it was only a bit bluntend, very nice. the lock dind't suffer at all ,and it really made a hard smack.
i thought it was done for it,but is was fine. some work on the sharpmaker and it was new.

I enjoy my 4" Zytel-handled Ti-Lite. The point can break off if you use it hard enough because it is pretty thin, but I agree with Tanto Fiend that it would be best suited for stabbing in a self defense situation.

I don't like to use this knife as a edc/work knife for those reasons. I prefer to take it with me when I go out to eat or for special occasions, etc.

I have a 4" Zytel version. I never actually carry it, but it's a neat knife that's cool to have in the collection. If you don't have the cash to burn on a knife you won't use every day, I would skip it.

Cheers

I love it, much wider blade then a normal bayonet point knife. so can be used for cutting much more effectively.

has excellent balance to it. ridgid, slim, light and handy, it has a full size blade that you wont notice your carring untill you need it

the knife can flick or wave open very easely with a little familarity.

came razor sharp from the factory and the edge has been easy to maintain.

the holes do collect pocket lint but cleaning isnt a problem. you can take it fully apart with a T6 and a T10 torque bit/driver .

i'm a huge fan of them. been carrying one as a EDC for about 8 months now. bought and sold a few to friends that "had to have one too after seeing mine" .

i just steped up and bought a real titinium Ti-lite now that they are discontinued and i liked the design so much. it does have some sutled differances though. i do really like it as well, but i'll prolly continue carrying my zytel one though.

I'm excited and looking forward to there new aluminum ones they have listed for 08 and plan on getting one of those as well.

cant say enough good things about them.

the wave means a portrusion that catches the pocket edge to open the blade on withdrawal from pocket...

i have the knife in question, its very nice, looks good, but i dont carry it, being to bulky for my taste.
i does take a while to loosen up so you can open it smooth, i guess its because of those plastic washers
the 'wave' feature will destroy your pants, its to rough for that kind of opening
it is a strong , good looking stiletto type blade knife, so if thats what you want, get it,
its more like an assasin knife , has no utilitarian use in my opinion

I had a couple of the original titanium handled versions (when they first came out).

I found it a decent knife for work, since the knife is speedily opened and closed one handed. That "wave" feature.

I took the sharp edges off the quillion notches and then it didn't wear the pockets. A round edged sharpening stone worked fine for this.

As above, I would agree that for general carry, there are better knives; but, I found it serviceable for my work at the time.

I have the four inch and the 6 inch. Why I purchased the 6 inch I'm not really sure. They do come very sharp. But in a self defense situation they are slow to open. Your can catch them on the corner of your jeans pocket and open them as you are pulling it from your pocket. But trying to open it one handed is almost impossible. I have to start it by pushing on one of the guards and then finishing the opening with the stud.

I'm a newbie. I currently carry the 6" Ti-Lite in addition to my sig p229 .40 . I have gotten mine loose enough so that I can just flick it open. The whole "wave" thing is a big mistake though. The knife will DESTROY your pants.

I have both the 4inch Zytel version, and the 4inch titanium version. Both are awesome knives.

Hey I notice you are in Canada too, wondering what "LeBaron's" is. Is that a knife store?

I picked up the ti-handle one in a trade last year. It was nicely made, excellent fit and finish, very sharp. I carried it for a few weeks and just didn't like the handle after some use. I practiced with it and just didn't have a good feel. Worked great for thrusting, pretty decent slasher too. Gave it a try, just couldn't get it to work for me. Sold it to a friend who loves it. I prefer a handle that has a bit more ergonomics to it, rather than the straight style like that. Couldn't find any fault with it aside from personal preference.

zytel 4" ti lite was my first "real" knife that got me into this mess. i dont carry it very often anymore but i took the clip off and will throw it in my boot when going out on weekends. blade held up great and "wave" is iffy. however, this is the smoothest/ quickest opening knife i have owned to date.

I held off getting one for ages, because the stud is RH only. (I'm left handed).
I got the 6" Ti this week and I can only say what a weapon!!!, but useless for anything else. Will be my 'by the bed' weapon, but I think the police would throw away the key if I got caught in the street with it.
