Opinions on a cqc13?

Hey, everyone. I am seriously considering the cqc13 for my next EDC edged purchase. This will hopefully replace my Cold Steel scimitar, ( I can hear the groans..:), and supplement my Case stockman (used to peel apples for my daughter)..:D

I own a cqc7 from when Ern was with Benchmade. That a thing was a tank, I have succeeded in murdering that one beyond all recognition so now it sleeps in a soft bed in the safe . Hold on a minute, where was I?

Oh yeah, back on topic.. Does anyone have one? I know, stupid question, but owners and users are two different things. I tend to beat the living Hell out of my blades. Using them for purposes other than cutting. :o So, I am more concerned about durability and edge retention. How easy is it to restore the edge? So many questions and not enough time.

Thanks in advance for any advice

carry one every day, on and off duty. great knife, and i love the wave.

i sharpen my emersons freehand, and with some practice, it is very easy.

Also, if I may add, I have stopped using knives for purposes other than cutting. I have added a Leatherman Super tool to my edc, so my blades are safer now.

Thanks morimotom, as I remember my cqc7 was also very easy to resharpen.

I have a CQC13 I bought soley to convert to a frame lock and then sell. Then I got attatched to it the more I used it. Now I'm not sure I could sell it. I really like it also but there are things about it I do not like. I wish the thumb disc was the bigger style like Ernie's older knives had on them. This one does not even fit the slot as well with gaps front and rear. (2005 model) but I found one that fits it better from another EKI for the time being.

The liner lock is not my favorite from any maker but Ernie makes them pretty well and has had lots of practice. My only real gripe with his is that I do wish the liners were beefier than they are. Even with the newer models being thicker they still are not thick enough in my opinion.

'13s are ok but get a '12 if ya can they have a better lock, i do like the blade on the '13, handle too.

str makes good points regarding the liner, and if you can afford one of his conversions, go for it! ive only seen pics, but they look awesome.

but if you are like me, and use folders only for cutting/slicing, then the lock should be more than sufficient. i also have a 12 and its great too. i like the handle shape on the 13 better though, just seems to fit my hand perfectly.
