Hello fellow Knife Nut's.. I got the knife bug approximately 2 years ago, and have not been right since. Although knife collecting is better for me than a drug habit, I think the drug habit would be cheaper. I have about 30 folders, and 15 fixed blades. I started collecting higher end sog products, then went to Lone Wolf(which I love), Benchmade, and a couple of spyderco's as well. Currently I am looking to buy a fixed blade. I have sog, becker, ka-bar, and of course the required Buck 119..If possible can anyone give me an opinion on what they think is the BEST LOOKING production model out there. I do use my knives as well as collect them. I rotate EDC's about once a week, and the fixed blade that I was wondering about will be used also(all around camping and field work). I really am looking for a Good Looking, Good Performing fixed blade for around $200(hidden from wife ;). Opinions Please???? Thanks Guy's, Regards, Pete G

The ESEE Junglas and 6 clip point, Buck Mayo Kaala, and Benchmade Nimravus look pretty cool to me.

does the izula do okay? check out the custom maker section of the forum. you micht find just the ticket.

MCusta fixed blades are nice looking and functional. variety of handle choices. great quality.

I really like the ESEE line, simple, functional, and very strong. If you want "fancy", try looking at the TOPS line of knives. They are good knives but a lot of different styles to choose from.
I have been collecting for over 40 years and it never goes away, I have so many knives I don't have a count. Every time I try counting, I remember the one I forgot in the garage, tool box, truck, etc.
Current fav fixed are the Hest and Izula.

I always like to recommend the Fallkniven series. S1 , F1.... Great stainless steel , excellent users , nicely priced IMO. :D

They are not "sit on your mantle for company to gawk at" good looking but to me, good looks begin and end at functionality when it comes to knives.

since you did not state you want a mantle piece or a safe queen then why not give Fallkniven a look , I have yet to read a negative review from a user that actually owns one. Both the F1 and S1 are fantastic knives.

If you can't get a Busse, get a Swamp Rat or an ESEE. Falkniven or Bark River are amazing as well.

Maybe a Falkniven F1. Anything from Busse and Kin will be really amazing though. Swamp rat will be in your price range.

Thank You for the opinions and recomendations. the]swamp rat models [/COLOR]are great and I'm leaning towards one of those. I love the look of the micarta handles and there are many options to choose from. Good call Jackman2. I'm not looking for a safe queen, or mantle blade, just a real good looker which is functional as well. The Fallkniven also looks great to me as well as do esse, and tops. There is alot to choose from. I have 2 mcusta folders and like them. I forgot about their fixed blades so I have to check them out also. I hope it rains here in Massachusetts tomorrow so I can forget about yard cleanup and check them all out. Thanks Again fellow Knife Enthusiasts.

The Spyderco Street Beat is attractive and a very handy and functional small fixed blade, the price won't break the bank either.

I'll tell you guys something though. When I started out I was buying smith and Wesson folders, winchester, cheap gerbers etc... Finally realized I would rather buy 5 or 6 quality knives a year than all the crappy ones I bought. The smith and wesson MP I bought early on actually fell apart in my pocket. Love this hobby though, it actually made me get out more, hiking, camping, fishing etc... because I wanted to try out what I bought. Well, Thanks Again everyone, Pete G

Take a look at my HT Evolution fixed blade. It's what I call short run production where I do all the dirty work making the grips and blanks and then have the blanks machine flat ground by an outside vendor.

This allows me to offer a knife just like a handmade at a fraction of the price.

I sell 'em without a sheath if you want to roll your own or with a nice leather sheath handsewn in Germany.

My -unbiased - :D opinion ... it's a really nice knife you can use and use without breaking the bank.

Currently I am really digging the black jack knives I've seen. Remind me of randalls at a process I don't mind spending on a pretty user.

How about a Spyderco Street Beat - beautiful hideout self defense fixed blade and falls under $200.

really diggin the looks of bark river knives. I think the Gunny is my next purchase

I went with the Swamp Rat RatManDeaux LE. At 11 1/4 overall it's not that unmanagable, I love the steel(sr 101), and the satin blade. It's my first Swamp Rat product. I also bought the Ratmandu with black blade and tan micarta for my son. Damn, it's getting expensive. That will be it for a while. Damn, I want the esse 5!! Ok, after that, that will be all for a while!!!!! I only wish the Swamp Rat products came with a sheath.. Thanks Everyone for the opinions!!!
