opinions on a SAK Huntsman vs Camper for pocket carry

Hope this is the right place to put this.

Anyway,
I am starting to want a Sak. I am stuck between two models. The Huntsman or the Camper.

The main difference tool wise is the Huntsman has scissors which I think I may want. I thought I wanted pliers but from everything I read I think If I do want pliers I will just end up getting a leatherman Cs4.

The question is, would the Camper really be that much easier to carry in my pocket?

Huntsman:
4 layers
91mm L x 1"W x 0.8" H
3.5oz

Camper:
3 layers
91mm L x 1"W x 0.7" H
2.6oz

I know looking at the numbers the question seems silly. The weight isnt a huge deal to me and 0.1" isn't much of a differnce but people swear a 4 layer is thick to carry in your pocket.

Huntsman all the way! I used to carry them before I went back to traditional knives. It has just the right amount of stuff and the best options vs knife size imho.

Thanks, just bought a Huntsman plus haha....I guess the plus would be the same dimensions as the regular huntsman, correct?

I should think the 3 or 4 layer knives awkward to carry in a pocket, but good for belt carry in a nylon or leather sheath. My Victorinox Spartan is always on my belt, and has almost everything needed, but sometimes a wood saw or scissors would be really nice to have.

They are both just fine...keep them in a pocket with other stuff with no problem. You might prefer one in hand more than the other in actual use though.

I'd go with the Huntsman myself, simply due to the fact that I've tested and it can slip into the change pocket on my jeans with ease.

I'd say go with the Huntsman. I just gave my brother my red one and now carry a stayglow version. My main SAKs have been the Huntsman and Midnight MiniChamp for at least the last 10 years or so. The scissors on the Huntsman comes in very handy. I pair it up with Leatherman Squirt P4 and Wave v2 (gave my dad my Wave v1) and basically have both a mini and main EDC setup (along with a couple folders of course).

My breakdown is like this (I usually carry both mini and big EDC at all times):
Mini EDC:
Spyderco Ladybug
Vic Midnight MiniChamp
Leatherman P4
4Sevens MLR2 (CR2 twisty flashlight which is VERY floody and bright)

Big EDC:
ZT0566 or Spyderco PM2
Vic Huntsman
Leatherman Wave v2
Lumapower Incendio v3 on belt and Fenix PD32UE in EDC bag.
ESEE Izula II with TKC scales and custom kydex sheath in main EDC pack.

If I'm walking light I replace the Wave with a grey LM Juice XE6 but to be honest I dislike the fact that the Juice doesn't have spring loaded pliers as they're more cumbersome to operate.

i find the viccy camper just the right size for pocket carry personally i would carry the huntsman in a sheath

I carry a champion with a lanyard in my front pocket and I forget it's there. Just depends on the person, get both and see which you like better ;-)

To me the Huntsman is a great allrounder for outdoor activities and I carry it in my backpack or pocket. The scissors are a very handy tool.

I had the same problem.
I got both.
I don't know which one to carry.
:D

PS: I'm currently more inclined towards EDCing the Camper while having the Huntsman in my EDC bag. The Camper has almost the same tools in a thinner and lighter package (Huntsman is 20% thicker and 30% heavier). I'm missing the scissors from time to time but not really that much ...

I have both. The saw on the Huntsman is more useful than its size indicates, the scissor/saw combo gives it the win for me.

I carry a Fieldmaster on my belt in a pouch, next to my flashlight and Leatherman Rebar. Same dimensions and design as the Huntsman, only difference is a screwdriver instead of a corkscrew.
