I've been kind of intrigued by it, here's a pic:

Here's the write up:

Looks like it is made in Italy. I'll probably call tomorrow to find out:

- Stop pin?
- Washer type?
- Does it have a pivot bushing?
- Does it have a pocket clip?
- Is the pivot adjustable and if so how?

Anyone handle one of these in person?

Now THAT is a well thought-out mariner's knife! I wonder how it handles with gloves?

i was just looking at this one yesterday. while i have no business being near the ocean, i can't get over the look of this knife. i'd have guessed Italy as well....

Although I would have no need for it, and don't buy just for collecting purposes, I would go as far to say that it's one of, if not the nicest looking new knife designs I have seen in a while.

The colors go great together and the scale shape is wicked.

If he makes one in a plain edge I'd buy it and just never use the hook, I bet when it's closed it adds a nice comfortable humb to the spine of the handle.

I have an old Camillus US Navy marlinspike knife; the Russell takes that classic design to a new level. A lanyard loop or hole would make this perfect.

I love the look of this knife. I've always been attracted to sailer or rigging knives anyway.

I guess when you think about it, if you were a guy that had a $500,000 or $1,000,000 yacht a $275 knife is just a drop in the bucket that wouldn't even pay your bar tab. But for most folks that is a lot of money to be dropping in the ocean or using as a beater.

For me a Myerchin would be the way to go. I do like the knife though. It is interesting that the marlin spike is not hardened on this knife.

That probably makes sense, a marlinspike can be used on rope or cable, unlike a fid. Maybe the cable could be more likely to break a hardened spike?

Just FYI,

It is made in Italy
No pocket clip.
No blade/pivot bushing.
Pivot not user adjustable, no special tool included.
Two people didn't know what kind of washers it had.

As one who used a Myerchin folder for over three years and a Myerchin fixed blade for two in the Cost Guard, you hit the nail on the head.

It is a pretty knife though. . .

I like rigging knives for sentimental reasons and that looks great, but why ATS-34? Why not something with more corrosion resistance like H-1?
