Experiences? Pros/Cons? Spyderco seems to like it.

For those not in the know, Ballistol is a spray-on lube that's supposed to be biodegradable, food-safe, and very effective.

I'm mostly interested because I'd like to use something other than WD-40 to spray out lock mechanisms. Ballistol, which is contained under pressure and actually does lubricate things, sounds better than WD-40.

You can do a search on the Himalayan Imports Forum for more detail.
There's a few of us there that use it faithfully.

I don't know how the pressure compares to WD-40 containers, but there are several olive oil cooking sprays -- like PAM -- now. Been using it for a couple years. Would think tho that it doesn't evaporate much. Might be kind of cool though to just shake your knife over a salad, dribble on some vinegar, and commence eating.

I use Ballistol on all my knives.

It's great for long-term-storage as it builds a white film, that won't get hard over year's.

You can use it an allmost any surface, but if used on leather the leather will get soft. That's not what I like a leather-sheath to be.

In europe it is sold in small bottles.
I like it, because you can use it to clean your knife and to conserve your knife, and it is not so expensive then the products that come from the staates.

When I got the first bottle offered from my father and he told me it was from my grandfather, I didn't like to use it. I was too young to know I was wrong. Today I know I could have saved me from a lot of troubles if I took this bootle back then.

hope this helps

Greetings
