I am looking at the benchmade 707. What do you guys all think of it. I have heard its a little thinner and beefier in the blade than the 705. Also does anyone have the limited edition 707-701? I saw the limited edition one for about $150 but not sure if its worth it. Finally, whats your opinion on actually using a limited edition knife as opposed to collecting it?

Love my 707. Fits my hand well for a smaller knife. Few small knives are comfortable in my fat mitt.

Great knife - one of my all time favorites. Very thin - especially w/o the clip and you can't beat the axis lock. It's about a 3.5 finger grip w/ my hands.

The LE editions are nice but hard to find. You can get a green handled version w/ D2 steel over at KnifeWorks for a great price right now.

well I lost the opportunity on the limited edition one. But not sure it was worth the extra money. Maybe i'll pick up a regular model soon.

LOVE mine. Its the knife i reach for about 90% of the time. It fits my knife needs perfectly most of the time. Great EDC. I loved the 705 but I like the 707 even more. If you like smaller knives I think you will really like a 707.

The 707 is certainly a fine knife. Very classy, very compact, very utilitarian. For aesthetics, I like it a lot, but I can't get all four of my fingers around the handle comfortably (and I don't have terribly large hands). If you get a chance to handle one in person, I'd recommend it.

As for your other question about the use of LE's, I'd say you should go ahead and use it, unless perhaps you think you'll resell it later. Probably depends from case to case, though. In the case of the 707-701, if I had one, I'd use it. Not heavily, probably only carry it on special occasions, but I'd use it.

I get 3 fingers on my 707 also, but it's still comfortable for my hand. Don't know why, I usually can't stand 3 finger handles.

Love mine also. A while back, I bought a Chris Reeve small Sebenza (already had a large, which I love and will never part with). When I got the small Sebenza, I was comparing it to my other, similarly sized knives. I was struck by how close my 707 matched the Sebbie in blade size and shape and similar feel in the hand. I gained a whole new appreciation for my 707 and ended up returning the small Sebbie. The Sebbie was nice, but for $330 compared to about $110, I felt the 707 really gave me a lot of great knife for the money. The G10 insert in the aluminum scales gives it a nice hand feel and the axis lock action on mine is silky smooth. All in all, a sweet piece of steel.

I carried a 707D2 for some time. Right now its off for warranty work (I broke the tip off, sent it in with the money for a blade replacement and they sent it back with a 154cm blade so I sent it in again so I could get a D2 blade). But it’s a great little knife. Kind of like the mini grip only better in almost every way like a upgraded version.
