What do you guys think about the blackjack classic model 7? I'm allergic to micarta, and synthetics just don't suite me. What do you guys think about the leather handled blackjack model 7, or really any of them. If you don't know about it, what other knives of a similar design (about 7 inches give or take, and with leather handles) would you suggest?

Origional Blackjacks are very nice. I have a Leather and Stag model and am very happy. Not saying the new ones are bad, I just have never used or handled them so I cant comment as to them.

The new Blackjack Knives are made by Bark River Knives. They are very good quality with all hand convexed blades. Really about the closest thing you can get to a true custom. I really like the stacked leather handles myself. They feel and look really good.

Not all of the new BlackJack Knives are made in America by the fine folks at Bark River Knives,

...but the BlackJack "Classic Blades" series is.

They are some very fine knives for the money.

Nice knife, Mike! I like the "hunter" models with the top of the blade guard removed... much handier! I have a Model 5 Hunter with stag carver handle and a Model 7 Hunter with a black Micarta carver (no butt cap) handle -- both Effingham made (as well as a couple of Trail Guides and a pair of Woodsmen that also have the single guard).

Spydercomil,
Give a Blackjack Model 7 a try... you'll like it!

Stay sharp,

Does anyone know anything about the new ones?

I agree about the Blackjack Classics. The Model 125 that I have is very well made.

Already ordered the 1-7 leather handled. Its really the best looking knife I know and when I join it goes with me. I think im going to start collecting the blackjacks. Before I thought they must be too good to be true, thanks for the help. One more thing though, do they have any kind of warrenty? I can't seem to find anything on them.

I read a cut test in one of the knife mag's and it was the best knife tested in the group and it was up against some nice knives

To the best of my knowledge, all Blackjack 1-7s have been manufactured by Mike Stewart. Although it's possible, I don't think Mike would provide any less of a warranty on knives he produced for Blackjack than knives he produces for Bark River. And all Bark River knives are guaranteed against manufacturing defects for life.

Correct, Mike Stewart stands behind the Blackjack "Classic Blades" knives just like he does for the Bark River Knives.

The same is true of the new line of Scagel knives he is producing.
