Opinions on blade shape and grind for Damascus?

Folks, I'm getting ready to comission my first Damascus knife and have been thinking about the blade shape and grind. This will be a small belt knife, probably about 7.5 inches overall and about 4.0 inches for the blade. Are there any particular blade shapes and grinds that are better suited to Damascus? I've been thinking about a flat-ground Wharncliffe as a nice blade shape and grind to maximize the amount of visible Damascus pattern, but maybe it would be too much? Do Damascus blades typically include filework or would that make it too busy? If you have any opinions on the matter, I would appreciate your input.

I don't really think that there is a particular blade shape ar grind that shows off damascus better than any other. It is probably better to find the pattern that you like the best. My favorites are random, twist and ladder, and I really like the one shown here that was made by Jerry Fisk.

Personally I wouldn't go for filework, but that is a personal choice. I have seen filework look great on small damascus blades, just don't over do it.

The "Grind" does not matter very much if you have good steel that already has a good "Pattern" in it , I Agree with Keith about the different pattern's , I like them " Simple" but with personality
