Hi,

I'd like to hear your opinions on the Benchmade 710 M2.

More about what you think of M2 steel...

I'm almost buying this new tool (or should I say toy :D ) from Mike @ Bestknives.com.

Regards,

Andre Tiba - Brazil

Check Joe Talmadge's sharpening post, do a search. He talks about how much he likes the 710 M2, and how to sharpen it.

I've had a lot of knives... I think the 710HS is my favorite, bar none, at any price.

M2 is very hard, very tough, and has good abrasion resistance. It's a pain to sharpen though... probably because it's very hard, very tough, and has good abrasion resistance :D

:p This is a wonderful, super capable piece of cutlery...I love mine!

You must definitely get one immediately, if not sooner!

Best wishes, Jeff/1911.

Ditto Practical Use's post -- I loved my 806D2, but the 710HS booted it into the drawer. Awesome knife: popping sharp out of the box, and it hasn't lost any edge even after cutting a bunch of 3/4" branches off the trees in my front yard. I do wish the M2 wasn't coated, but I might send it to Reese Weiland for some modification one of these days.

If you've got a line on an available 710HS, get it.

I don't like a coated blade so I went with the 154CM plain edge. It's the best production knife in my opinion.
