I am doing a deal and getting the above at a very very VERY good price. Now I have publicly been at odds with BM for some time, but am willing to give BM the benifit of the doubt as I have been asured they have sorts out the QC gremlins I have noted in the past.

(I am also very happy with my 710 and 750 blades and I really rate my M2 Nimravious blade (you see I am not a total BM hater!)

Secondly, I won't be giving BM any money as I am buying them from a friend!:p

All the blades will be BT2 154CM semi serrated models.

I normally would not go for this, but I am looking for some hard use blades with a serrated edge for cardboard duties in work as a back up to my Sebi:p .

Any comments about tthe MOD neck knife?

All comments welcome as I really have not seen any of the blades up close other than a 730 ARES a few years back, at the time I went for the 750 Piniccle model.

Well, I really like my 750S so maybe we have simlar taste in knives

I got to handle a 705 and a 720(is the 721 a tanto?)
I liked the 720 really well. It was very solid and smooth, and the blade was sort of a trailing point with a lot of belly. I had it to clean up and sharpen for a friend, and it would easily shave the print, or even small slices off of a newspaper. The handle was comfortable and the shape gave a secure grip even with the slick anodized aluminum finish. I'd say it would be a pretty good choice from benchmade if you wanted one smaller than your pinnacle.

The 705S, was a little different story. The handle was just too short for me. I really liked the profile of the blade and overall style, but it felt like even if I crowded my hand forward, my last finger and a good part of my palm were still hanging over the back end. The grooves of the handle just didn't fit my hand very well at all.I really wanted to like that knife too because of the size and blade shape, and lockup. It just didn't fit my hand.
The fit and finish on both knives was very good, and the axis lock was very smooth, and tight. I didn't care for how the studs on the axis lock would catch on my pocket, but that wasn't too big of a deal.
I don't remember hearing any bad things about the 730, so I'd say your getting a handful of good knives.

I have a BM 722 (same as the 721 except with a tanto blade instead of the bowie blade) and I love it.

The blade is small enough (3.25") that you can use it nearly anywhere without freaking people out, but it is very stout!
The entire knife is bulldog tough and you can tell it was made for work. Make no mistake, this is not a dainty gent's knife.

The handle is just a little shorter than ideal but it has more girth than you would think from just a picture.
It fills the hand very secure comfortably.

And the Axis-lock is simply awesome.

When I bought the 722 I was also considering the 710.
After handling them both for quite a while I chose the 722 even though it costed more than the 710.
Believe it or not, the 722 just felt more solid and tough, to me, than the 710 did.

Good luck,
Allen.

Thank you for the detailed comments. The 721 or at least the knife I meant is the alum handled model with the bowie blade. A friend has gone in on the deal and is having the G10 version of the same knife.

Thanks again!

I think the 720 has the aluminum handle and bowie blade,
the 721 has G-10 handle and bowie blade,
and the 722 has G-10 handle and tanto blade.

BM is now shipping most of it's knives with bronze washers. I wonder if the knives you are getting are the new ones or the older with the nylatron washers. Either way, they are all great knives. The 705 I find personally a bit on the small side, but YMMV.

Of the three, I like the 730 the best. It's got excellent ergonomics and a very useful blade shape. It'll do anything from field and trial use to personal defense.(An Allen Elishewitz design)

Good luck with your new "toys". Let us know your reactions.:)
