Ok I am going to buy another bowie. Looking at the Down Under bowie, TrailMaster and an Ontario. Which do you fellas prefer. Just wondering. thanks and keepem sharp

What's your budget?

Personally I'm a fan of the Trail Master. If you want something fancier you can't beat the Natchez.... but its not a chopper.

Unless you can find an upcoming maker who still charges reasonable sums.

That's another option.

Cs trailmaster out of what you said though.

From the ones you mentioned, the Trailmaster is a good choice. Especially an older Carbon V model.

Thanks, I've tried and owned several customs, prod. made etc.etc. Truth be told I am not even positive why I want another bowie. I'll ponder the choices though, many thanks and keepem sharp

PS are the Taiwan made CS the mar tempered bowies?

Edwood, that #2 pic is unique. I like it alot. Thanks for posting.

if you are talking "Down Under Knives" they are a scam operation selling overpriced imports. They have nothing to do with Australia, they are a Finnish company selling china made junk for way too much money. They also are banned from this forum as far as I know.

I agree with the others, the TrailMaster would be the ticket for sure. :)

The OKC Marine Raider Bowie is by far the best bang for the buck$ out of the 3 you mentioned. It is 1/4" thick & the point is ungodly sharp. Mine drew blood the first time i touched it & i was being carefull. Made in America of 1095 high carbon steel. Has a double finger guard & the sheath is VERY functional with the swivel loop, but is cheap. Mine was dry (the leather parts) so i used some neatsfoot oil on it. I am very happy with it & like it enough to have a custom sheath made for it some day.

I am a Big Blade kind of guy and have a bunch of Bowie style knifes.

I like them all, but some are more for show then for go.

These two are the ones I really use,

...both are customs out of the Bark River shop.

I've been looking at the Ontario line, Marine Raider model. I don't know man lots of choices and would like to keep it at under 2 bills if possible. Really leaning towards the CS TM mar tempered from Taiwan or the OKC Marine model. keepem sharp

Ya' might want to check out the KaBar large Heavy Bowie, too. Well worth the price and then some.
