what steel is it made of, any opinions, i had a nice size chip fall off the edge of mine and the blue handle isnt holing up worth a damn? it is ok for an abused work knife but guess am dissipointed with it for the price?
I think it is Bucks 425 Steel but not sure. Ask the same question in the Buck forum.

Had one for 2 days... no wonder it was smooth, all loosened up
. Brought it back, got something better, plus 30 bucks!. Tried all 4 lightnings at the shop and all of them 'clicked' when the blade was pulled lightly. Something loose in there for sure... didn't even cut anything with it to test the blade...
A fellow at work has one and loves it, the size and handle shape. I get to see it when I sharpen it for him. Seems to take a decent edge and I think Mike is correct in the steel used. But for me, the liner does seem to flip right over to the other side when opened, so I probably wouldn't buy one, but as I said, my friend loves his, so to each his own!
