I seen that Case just released a slimline trapper ez open style. Was wondering what your thoughts on this was. Are they grasping for things to do to have something"new" on the market?

While this is just my opinion I've felt that EZ openers regardless of pattern are more for aesthetic purposes even though they do aid a bit in helping you pinch the knife open. With that being said I for one like the look of the EZ open handles and especially the antique bone handle so if I were shoping for a slimline trapper I would most likely give this one a hard look.

perhaps but i love easy opens! ive got 2 and it does give ya more purchase to aid in opening, although it being a trapper it'd be a deal breaker personally
not much of a trapper fan

I think they look pretty cool. Nice to see them breaking out and offering some variations.

Having a deficit of fingernails, I personally love EZ Opens. I really like that slimline!

Nice thread idea, Ash. And thanks Mark for showing the picture in your post as I hadn't seen one yet. My first impression is I really like the EO Trapper. Although admittedly I am a huge fan of EO's for decades now. There is just something soothing and satisfying about pinching open the master-main blade of a fine traditional EO pattern to use!

Best,
Anthony

I kind of think all MFG's are grasping to have something "new" on the market, and that's a good thing!
I like the looks of this offering, and find single narrow bladed trappers to be more usefull than their looks imply.

To anyone who has some EO jack's, I ask: do you find that the cutout aids in grip? To my mind it looks as if the pinky or ring finger would naturally fall into the cutout and act as an anchor point...

I don't think I'm going to order one but after getting in three peanuts a while back, none of which I can easily get to the nail nicks on, it's tempting!

I find that the cutout on my 2011 Forum knife does help in the grip of the knife when opened. In fact, that is one of the things I love about it!

im in the same boat as you regarding the fingernails.
i was not a fan of ez-opens until i saw this one though

I'm not sure about Case history with this pattern, but I know there are quite a few old Queen EZ open slimline-style trappers out there. :) I think this Case EZ-open looks really good!

I really like EZ open myself but maybe its because its different but it just looking out of place on a Case.

upon further consideration while i dont care for trappers i have a good friend who loves the darn things, might make a good gift as he's going through a messy divorce
thanks for posting this Ash

Gene,
I'm sure that would help bring a little glimmer of happiness into his life at this dark time. Divorces are most of the time never easy. Break ups are even difficult at times, especially if you live together.

Alright!!! This is a slimline trapper I know will find a home here if it is truly a production item.

 I just need to find somebody with one I can buy.

I never really cared for EZ open until I actually owned one, now I find myself looking for some more. I do like this one for sure.

I like the idea and I've always been keen on the Slimline Trapper pattern.

Any other scales than Antique Bone? That's very attractive though.
