I'm getting ready to buy a new custom and I have a choice between several knives from makers who's knives iv'e never owned or handled but have always been at the top of my list of must haves. Price is a consideration but if the quality is obviously higher it might be worth it. Anyone with an opinion on these makers/models please let me know. It's killing me trying to decide. Thanks in advance.
Terzuola century starfighter atcf ttf3 $1200 each
Fellhoelter flg fatf $900 each
Pohan leu hammachi $999
Shane sibert pocket rocket $1,900

I LOVE Bob Terzuola's knives, I have owned many of them. You can not go wrong with his knives!! They are damn near knife perfection. Bob is one of my top favorite makers!! I would say, get the Terzuola.

I have never owned the other two, but I like both makers' works.

I absolutely LOVE the Shane Sibert Pocket Rocket! It is a BIG knife, and a fantastic one! It is one of my favorite big knives. Shane IS one of favorite makers.

How do they compare as far as quality? The Sibert is much more expensive. Is there much of a difference in fit and finish? I'm really interested in the Terzuola century starfighter and Fellhoelter flg but that pocket rocket is tempting

Tripod,

Any maker that has been around for more than a few years is going to do right by you. All the makers I know have a trial period. Usually 7-14 days. If you don't feel it is up to the quality vs price they will take it back for the cost of shipping. When you are talking about a 2k knife it would be a comfort to know. Check out their policy and if it is acceptable go with your gut.

Terzuola & Sibert are top notch!! It doesn't get much better than a Terzuola, seriously. And the Pocket Rocket I had was phenomenal as well. It really depends on what knife YOU want more. The secondary market prices are insane for a Pocket Rocket!! Sheesh. All those makers are excellent. I have only owned the two that I mentioned.

Thanks guys, I think i'll go with Terzuola. Can't justify paying twice as much for a knife that probably isn't any better. If only second hand market prices weren't so out of control.
Thanks
Matt

I've had a more than a dozen Terzuola's and an FLG and FRH, They are both solid makers and both make great knives,
Only thing I would say is that a knife in the hand can be much different than the pics IMO

good luck in your experience

I think you made a great choice. All the makers you listed are wonderful. I think you made a fantastic choice with getting a Terzuola!! Bob is and always will be one of my absolute favorite's, and he happens to be one of my most favorite human beings on the planet as well.

the trick is if you plan on using or collecting them

im a user guy and back in 96 almost got a emerson. i woudl be crying these days to know whata it was worth had i not used it. lucky fro me i got a different knife and beat it to death in 4 hard USMC years
its all in what you need

@ Butcher_ Block
Both, I collect them but if I cant bring myself to use them I cant justify keeping them. Part of the fun of having the best knives in the world is putting them to use. It's hard to fully appreciate the makers skills without putting the knife through its paces. I know some customs weren't made to be used and there's nothing wrong with that but it's not really what i'm looking for.
Thanks for all the great advice guy's

Yup iv'e learned that lesson. Some of the best knives iv'e seen online weren't so cool when I finally got my hands on them. How do you feel about the flg vs atcf vs century starfighter vs american made steampunk. If you haven't had those Terzuola models then fellhoelter vs terzuola in general? This will be a user.

Oh yes, they will!! They ARE made to be used!! :)

Which Terzuola are you going to get?

If you appreciate remarkable quality and want something affordable, look into John W. Smith. Not flashy by today's standards but incredible quality for a very fair price.

@ T.K.C
Having a really hard time deciding. It's down to century starfighter all ti atcf and american made steampunk.

@ Megalobyte
I have noticed his knives and yes they are on my list. They may not be flashy but I love that classic look they have.

Choosing one is tough!! I personally would choose the ACTF out of your choices, but that is just me. Good luck! :)

Price went up, Ari.....John doesn't make knives anymore(serious health problems).....and it's gonna keep going up!

did a quick google of the options you posted and if i was spendig your money ;) ( i cant spend mine ) i think i would go with Bob T
if it sees use (most any in some eyes ) it would depreciate the resale quickly and by large margin. Bob has been in this game a long time adn i think he has less "new hype cost" built in

i post this having never even seen in person let alon handeled or used any of the 4 options you posted

I've had all of those you mentioned except the steampunk.
my favorite is an Terzuola MK-1, it's the right size for me.
