I've developed a taste for fine daggers lately (I know, it can put you in the poor house ;-), so I was wondering, who do you think makes the most elegant and beautiful daggers, you know, the kind that make you say "Wow!"? My first choice so far would be Loerchner and I would venture to say that not many are in his league.

And if you have a web link to your choice, that would be helpful too...

Since you mention Wolfe, I assume you mean "art daggers" (otherwise I'd have to post a pic of my Brend :) )...in that case, Buster Warenski (www.warenskiknives.com)

and Rick Eaton (www.eatonknives.com)

It doesn't matter one bit how useful they are IMO, i love there looks and what they where made for in the first place, to put the hex on those decadent pesky Night's! hehe

Here's a beauty i have on order from Bob Brown. BTW it's the small one.

I do not have a use for them :), but I sure do enjoy collecting them.
Next year I hope to have examples from John Fitch, Sava Damlovac (3rd one), Ray Kirk, Michael Vagnino and Darrel Ralph.

My dream collection of daggers would contain work by Bill Moran, Buster and Julie Warenski, Wolfe Lorchner, Willie Rigney and Doug Casteel. (I can dream can't I :)). I have to agree with you on Lorchner being my favorite, but those other folks can also make daggers that can take your breath away.

Here is the only one I purchased this year by Audra Draper.

Well, since you guys are including pictures, I thought I would post a pic of the Rich McDonald fluted ivory and damascus dagger I got at the Chesapeake Knife Show this weekend that kicked off this thread... It's wanting a companion... ;-)

Sorry the beautiful damascus pattern doesn't show up well...

Here are some great semi-production daggers:

However, you probably mean custom (seeing as this is the custom forum and all :p )

Kevin Cashen makes some awesome daggers:

BTW James--what handle material are you choosing for your Rob Brown Price Style. I have one of those and three others on order from Rob. The ivory seems not to be an option. I'm going to go with honey colored giraffe. I'm having the beadblasting (very light that Rob does) on the escutcheons.

Murray,

You can ship fossil ivory to SA and back. That's what I've done with my order to Rob.

JD

now that you mention it, I think maybe that is what Rob is using for the Price style as I asked him to match the California dirk I ordered and he did suggest using mammouth for that one. thanks for the reminder. memory is getting like my hair-- in short supply

Murray i'm waiting to get it in ivory, it's taking Rob a while to get a "ivory permit" and i will email him now to see if he got it, when i ordered it about a year ago Rob forgot to talk with me about the availability of ivory. I know it will be worth the wait, Rob did find some mammoth slabs locally, but they slightly too short so he's waiting to get a permit so he finish my knife soon i hope. BTW i just love that one you posted by Roger Toner Murray, it's a really beauty, heck this tread if full of great daggers if i ever seen them i must say!

What about Rob Hudson:
