Whats this stone like they claim its 8000 mesh which would seem perfect for stropping etc.
Does it live up to its hype?.
Does it leave a mirored edge in very little time?.

I'm not sure but am also curious, just hope their claimed 1200 green stones wouldn't be too big a jump to 8000 claimed offwhite stones.

I got one, but did not notice any difference between it and just Extra Fine.

Thanks, Vassili.

P.S.
Extra Fine - 9 microns
Extra Extra Fine - 3 microns

Ive got one and i like it. I often finish user blades on it. I notice a significant difference between it and DMT's fine, and some difference between it and extra fine. It leaves a pretty good polish, with some work I've gotten hair whittling sharp off the extra extra fine.

I have an extra fine but it leaves a edge to fine for when I want a slicing edge and not polished enough for when i want a polished edge. It gets little use.

If I could go back and I would buy an EE coarse, a fine, and an EE fine.

I am not sure what the "hype" being referred to is. I have been playing with a 4" DMT EEF for a couple of weeks now. It can make a small improvement in edge quality, but the difference from the EF to the EEF is not enormous. The EEF does not really produce a polished edge, a leather strop or a waterstone is much better for that.

The situation with the Spyderco fine and ultrafine ceramic stones is similar. I do not think most people could tell them apart if they got mixed up (except for the red paint on the end), either by feeling the stone or sharpening a knife.

When sharpening with waterstones I go directly from 1000 to 6000 grit, which is kind of like from the DMT fine to a little finer than DMT EEF.
