Opinions on Emerson HD-7

I have always liked the design of CQC7 except the liner lock, so the framelock version HD-7 naturally became my choice. What's stopping me was the price. Even with online discount price it would be still over $100 more than the regular CQC7, or similar products by other makers (like SERE2000 I owned, or bm 630, if we are talking about framelock comparison). Don't get me wrong though, I don't mind spend that much if the quality of finish is at the level that I want. Like I said I enjoy the emerson design. As matter of fact the commander was my first knife and still one of my favorites. But, still wishing the finish could be a little better ....

So, I would like to hear some opinions from the HD-7 owner. Is it worth the $250 price tag?

First--Welcome to the Forums! :)

I picked up the HD-7 a little over a week ago from a local dealer. Couldn't resist since the original CQC7 was my first tactical folder almost 10 years ago. At that time, I think I paid about $150 for it.

The new version is a quantum leap forward in ruggedness and design. The handle profile is much better--flared toward the blade when held in saber grip and the combination G10/Ti handles give it a virtually slip-free feel. It also includes the "Wave" feature for very quick blade access.

IMHO, it's a very worthy evolution of the original classic design and I think that the extra $$ are well spent.
