I've considered getting one of these for quite a while. I am not sure if the head is made of the same material as it's smaller counterpart. Here's a link to a good descriptive write-up.

Firestone Throwing Axe

So, what do you all think? I really like the look of it. I would use it for carrying (mainly a belt axe) and probably for clearing brush. I'd also keep it in the car in case of a felled tree across the road.

I have 2 and I really like them. They are great for throwing but the handles are a little narrow for my taste so clearing with them is not much fun.

The only thing I don't like about the Firestone how often I break the handles. Then again maybe I shouldn't miss the target so often.

I have had the Firestone Utility axe, which the head looks similar to that and I thought it was dull and kind of hard to sharpen. I could never get it to shave. I sent it back to the company and they gave me a refund. Great people to deal with.

I also have a firestone belt axe. The head is much better quality than the utility axe. However due to the steeper edge angle it is not quite as good of a chopper as some others with thinner edges, and it is a lot more expensive.

Have you considered any of the throwing axes from www.ragweedforge.com ?

They have some axes with heads similar to the Firestone but they also have a nice thin edge for chopping. Also price is reasonable.
