What do people here think of the Gov-Tac? Is it a decent all around field knife, or was it designed for any specialized purpose? User feedback is much appreciated. Basically I guess I'm trying to find out if those of you who have one feel as if you got your money's worth.

I have a 2005 Limited Edition
Its a nicely sized knife and the handle is comfortable.
It holds an edge fairly well.
The sheath is an absolute piece of chit.
I have Leatherdude( armorall leather dot com) making a proper sheath for it.

Buy a Fallkniven instead... better knife, better steel, better sheath.

I had one of the limited edition bead blasted finish models for about a week, Nuff said? Well it's too light for a field knife, too small for a figther, it's made in taiwan, the sheath is crap. The finish is not too bad, the handle is mediocre, the balance is poor. They also corrode quite easily in any type of seawater atmoshpere. If you can get one at wholesale of $53 it might be worth it, but it's not worth having a decent sheath made for it.

thats only two peoples opinions , and in my opinion you neeed to form your own opinion of this knife . my knife tastes have changed drastically this year ; what would have seemed too controversial for my liking last year i now find myself buying beacuse i DO like it. for example i`m buying my first stag horn knife once it comes in. last year i didnt even like stag horn. all i`m saying is give it a go , find out for yourself . it is good to gauge other peoples opinion of the knife too though. has anyone ever heard of the knife brand Muela? i have several of their knives and quite like them.

They have absolutely nothing in common. The S1 is a pretty nice piece.

Does anybody know if the crossgaurd on the gov-tac is soldered or if it is at least sealed with some sort of epoxy?
