Hello, I'm considering the long (3200) Kelty Moraine backpack for short weekend hikes, and doubling otherwise as my BOB. Has anyone used these? I'm 6'2", 240 lbs, torso 21-22", anyone this size tried one on (I'm in a very rural area with no commercial stores)? Finally, I found one cheap at Bob Wards internet site, in sage instead of the blue- anyone know how dark a green the Kelty "sage" is? Their site is lacking a color chart. Thanks for any opinions/ advice you guys might offer. Take care, Regan

I like the sage, it's just about the same color as it's name sake "sage" blends nice with the outdoors. I have a Redwing from Kelty in Forest green. If they made the Gale in any color but red and black, I,d own one. Check out Camp Trails Blackjack. On sale at Campmor for $50.00

Ravenn, I've found a Redwing used for $40- how do you like yours? Any trouble with the front-loading zippers- are they pretty substantial? Is the removable waistbelt well-done (is it a good, usefeul belt, and does it come off easily)? Thanks for your response! Take care, Regan

The belt on mine is not detachable. it is about 4 years old, No problems with the zippers at all, belt is the most comfortable I,ve tried. One thing to consider, the RW is about 2500 cu in for the reg, and about 2800 cu in for the large. It is a wide profile pack , there fore a bit tricky in brushy enviorments. I can lite pack with hammock, poncho liner, Trangia stove, and a cooking can for a two day trip.
They are a good buy , with great work manship. Their biggger packs are a bit heavy for me, ( for 3500 cu in , I set a limit of 4lbs), but tough as nails

Thanks, Ravenn, for your input. I bought the bag for $32, supposed to be in excellent shape. I appreciate your help. Take care, Regan
