Just wondering what everybody thinks of the Kershaw Titanium Talon Plain Edge with ATS 34 blade.

Well built knife, with a scary sharp edge. I also like the Starkey Ridge model 1410 with Titanium handle. My only complaint was that both knives would easily slide out of my pocket if I was wearing slacks. The contact between the clip and the scale was too slick. Other than the clip issue, I like them better than the Kershaw/Onion knives.

I had a talon for a while and think its a great knife. the action was smooth and the lockup good. My only complaint was that the clip seemed too small.

I've got a serrated Talon and I've given it some hard use over the years. Beautiful knife, tough as they come, and stays sharp. I just got a Wild Wild Turkey as a more 'normal' looking version, not realizing how much smaller the WWT is, but it's still a great little knife.

Never had a problem with the clip, but if I did, I would unscrew it, bend it in (or out, if it were too tight), and screw it back in place.

My only worry is that the liner lock is not really secure. If I flick! it open hard, it will seat far enough over to hold well. But if I only swing the blade out slowly by the thumb stud, it will fold up on me with any sideways pressure.

Have you ever seen the "modified" Talon, with that so-called bottle-opener on the back of the blade? That's a Wave! It will open the blade automatically if you hook it right, or you can use it like a Spydie hole.

I've had a plain edge talon for several months which has seen moderate use. The titanium handle is a little battered from living in my pocket but the lock and action are still smooth and precise. The teflon washers really makes the action smooth - I'd watch out closing the blade for the first few times until you get used to it.

The edge was razor sharp out of the box and the ATS-34 holds an edge real well. I sharpen mine with the Sharpmaker 204. Couldn't find any blade play in any direction open or closed. Each knife comes with some spare bits (washers and screws) in the box which is a nice touch.

Would recommend this knife if you are shopping for a moderately priced hawkbill-style blade. IIRC retail is $130 - I bought mine for about $90 from AG Russell.
