Just wondering what everyone thinks of the Wild Turkey. How is the lockup? Is it suitable for defense as a last resort?

I really like the size and design of that model, but I would not consider it safe for regular utility use and certainly not safe for defense.

I would suggest finding a Spyderco lockback that fits your style for a defensive knife, or a fixed blade.

bass, I just got one recently. It is a sweet little knife, razor sharp, very comfortable in my hand -- and tiny! Even if the liner lock were stronger, it's too small for combat duty. They also have a Hawk that's supposed to be some 15% larger than the Wild Turkey, but it would also be a small knife.

The liner is thin and I would not rely on it for hard use. I keep mine in the kitchen, actually. It slices fruit and vegetables nicely, when I don't want to use one of my bigger knives. Might make a nice "bird & trout" which is what I think it was designed for.

I just picked one up too, pretty good for only $30. Mine's finish is perfect, blade grinds perfect, and razor sharp. Doesn't rub the liners when opening and opens super slick...actually to the point of being dangerous. It doesn't open up in the pocket, but it opens so smooth you may cut your thumb until you're used to it.

Only beef is the liner engages almost completely across the blade, not much room for wear.

Again, not such a great choice for defense or medium/heavy duty cutting chores, but a great little pocket knife for dress or food chores and other light work!

I have a Wild Wild Turkey, which I believe is the larger brother of the Wild Turkey. Excellent utility blade, super cutting geometry, cuts great! The slotted Ti handle is a bit flexible for my taste though, allows liner lock to slide all over the place. For medium utility though, it is a great cutter.

The Wild Wild Turkey is the same size as the Wild Turkey but it has titanium scales. The WT uses G-10. The slightly larger Ti-Hawk has titanium scales and the G-10 Hawk uses ... G-10.
