I got a new job and I’m celebrating with a new knife. I’m interested in your opinions on the LT Wright GNS in CPM 3V steel with matte natural micarta scales. Looks like a good general use mountain knife to me. Anybody else have a GNS here?

I have a few GNS, they are nice knives. They surprised me that they fill my hand more than a lot of knives and feel good to work with for extended periods. I personally prefer LTs AEB-L over the 3V, but there's nothing wrong with there 3V.

Edited: and added a better picture and explanation in the next post.

Probably my favorite LT Wright is the Rogue River model. It's very similar shape to the GNS, but slightly smaller and is more nimble in hand to me. And the bottom is the LT Outback model another of theirs I enjoy using.

Top to bottom ...

1.GNS Saber grind in 3V with orange liners gives it a wide grip if you have average or smaller hands it might be a bit too thick, but for big mitts they feel good.

2. GNS Saber grind in AEB-L.

3. GNS Curly Maple Convex grind (my favorite type of grind for these knives) in AEB-L.

4. A Rogue River Desert Ironwood Convex grind in A2.

5. The Outback Saber grind in CPM-3V.

The knife was delivered yesterday. It’s really nice, excellent fit and finish. Delivered only slightly sharp, so I’ll reserve further comment on the 3V for after I’ve sharpened it on the KME. I’ll try not to cut the hell out of my finger this time!

The LT Wright GNS saber 3V could be a good knife. However the weight of the micarta handle is way to high, making him unpleasant to use.
