What is the fit and finish of Mission Knives, in general? In their smaller knives (MPU, MPF), do they pursue the theory thin edge cut better, or Benchmade like thick edges?

I am looking at the MPU and am curious if it's a real slicer and cutter, a la Spyderco. Or perhaps a thick edged prybar like MOD razorback. I am hoping for the first, though. The pictures look very good, but I can't really handle them over here. No distributor I believe. Please enter your comment also if you own other Mission Knives' models, apart from the MPU.

Thanks,

Wouter

The only Mission Knives and Tools I have is the titanium MPK.
The quality is top knotch.
The blade cuts and cuts and cuts...does not feel sharp but still cuts very well.
The knife is probably one of the THOUGHEST knives you can buy. I don't think that even Cliff Stamp could break one is usage. If you ever have to depend on a knife in sub-zero weather then the titanium will not get brittle from the cold and it is totally rust and corrosion impervious.
All in all, I like Mission quality but they are quite pricey and I feel that they are worth the money if you need the qualities of titanium. There non-titanium knives I believe are made from A2 steel which is a very good knife steel.:eek:
Good luck.

Andrew;
No, that is not a challange to Cliff Stamp. I was just indicating that these knives will stand up to just about any kind of usage that is not intended to be a distruction derby. I am sure that anyone could take a 16# sledge hammer and an anvil and destroy any knive on the planet,however, during any kind of usage that the knife was designed to perform at, this knife would fall under the definition of being REALLY STOUT:rolleyes: :p

I spoke with the owner recently and he told me that when he bought out his partners, he invested a pile of money in new equipment and will be controlling the manufacturing process even more closely than before. He assured me that the quality will be even better and his improved ability to control the process and the costs should permit him to fight price increases for a while. All good news to anyone who is thinking of buying one of these already excellent knives.
