Opinions on MOD Hornet?

I'm interested in this model. I've never had the opportunity to handle an MOD. I'm trying to decide on the hornet or the CQD MKII. One of the defining characteristics is the blade/handle ratio. I don't want something that looks like the handle swallows the blade in size.

I'm also interested in any comments from people who have used the hornet regularly.
Thanks,
Clay

Hey, this is my first post here. I've had my Hornet for two weeks and love it. The fit and finish are outstanding. The blade is perfectly centered with no play. My only complaint is the knife came very dull out of the box. Called MOD and they apologized and said to send it in. I had it sharpened locally and what a difference. This is a small knife (3.1 inch blade and 4.1 handle length), but I find the ergonomics perfect. If you have large hands, it may be too small.
Called MOD about a 2001 catalog, and had it three days later, so I'm very impressed with their service so far. I will buy the CQD Mark II when it's available. Sure hope it's soon.

AC_53!

Please be aware that there's a BIG difference in sizes between the Hornet and CQD, CQD is HUGE and the Hornet is small. (like'em both a lot!!)
I've got one of the MOD Hornets that i'd like to sell, used and the blade has been polished lightly to even out some scrathes.
Great user, not a pretty piece. 100%mechanically no abuse of the edge.

If interested just e-mail me.

My knives!

The MOD Hornet is a very well made knife, however, I wasn't surprised at all when QDR said it was on the dull side. I bought 2 MOD knives, both were Trident folders, one bead blasted and one black coated. They were not nearly as sharp as other folders in their class. I recently checked out a CQD folder and I found the edge was the same. The Hornet, Trident and Tempest folders are very similar in construction to the Microtech SOCOM, but the Microtechs are much sharper.

Here is a comparison pic to answer the size questions between a CQD, CQD MKII and a Hornet.

The Hornet is my everyday carry -- love that little knife, the CQD is for work (and play

) and the MKII, well, my wife hid it from me soon as I scanned the picture

Hope this helps,
