What do you all think about the hollow ground application on such a knife. Parkerized as well?
I have the original meltdown spine production. Just ordered the hollow ground.

Tincan,
I like it for a slicer as the hollow grind is sharp and will take a nice edge. I don't plan on using it for batoning like the heavier regulators. As for the parkerized finish it is kinda rough or some might say raw. However, while parkerized finishs might show scratches and appear unrefined...the coating was meant to hold oil and ease maintenance. It should make a great large utility knife when slicing or piercing.

Tincan,
I have not done any piercing or stabbing with mine yet, but it does slice well. It is fairly light in the hand and should be very packable.

I have an original Regulator and looked very hard at a parkerized one. In the end, it wasn't different enough from what I had. I do like the finish over the coated blade.

As for the hollow grind, I had a Regulator LE at one point and loved the satin finish, but I thought the flat grind made the edge to thin for very hard use. That was my concern for the hollow grind.

The edge is much thinner on these Parkerized Regulators compared to the flat saber ground ones. I believe I prefer the grind & finish on these as a general survival knife, should still be plenty strong while capable of much finer tasks.

While I don't currently own of these knives, I really like the grind lines. Perhaps the company has come up with a winning configuration here: super tough spine coupled with a scary edge profile. What is not to like here? I am reminded of my old SOG knife that sported similar grind lines and a nice healthy, robust spine.

I'll bet they are a 'sleeper' of sorts, providing explosive cutting power for a knife that size. Too bad one can't order them on the web page. I'd be in to snag mine in a heartbeat!

I got one..... loved it. It is a different knife than previous regulators with the very thin edge. They are not similar in application. Although extremely tough I'm sure, I would not purchase for wilderness use. It is very much heavy duty tactical slicer, very very deep cutting capabilities. While previous regulators are thick heavy stock prybars...which I like, the HG regulator is a fine edge slicer with a heavy backbone. Urban use go with HG, wilderness use, go with old school regulator

I scored one in the Ganzaaa. :D

The blade profile with the HG is just sexy! Even through it will likely be a pretty thin edge, I still think it will be plenty tough. Can't wait to get it in hand!

Ummmmmed and ahhhhhhed about a couple in the EX but when they appeared in the Ganza for $130 it put me over the edge. I tried for and scored a black on black one.... :D
