Regarding the Nimravus, does anyone have any opinions, good or bad. My friend Brian was talking about getting one, and asked my opinion of them. I told him I know by reputation that benchmade's a great company, excellent customer service, great products etc.. but I've never actually played with a Nimravus. If anyone has any info and or knows where to find the cheapest place to buy one online it would be much help. Thanks.

There is a great review of the Nimravus around here comparing it to the Gerber Yari. I went with the Yari because it was on sale for something like $65. The Nim has more thickness closer to the tip for more tip strength. Both great knives IMO. If price was no object I would have gone with the Nim in M2.

I just recently got a Nimravus in M2, and I think that it is great. The blade geometry is nice because it is slim enough to be a great slicer, but still is very strong due to the way the spine is designed. I have pretty big paws, and I find the handle to be a bit slim for my taste so I did a para cord wrap on the handle from the sub hilt down to the pommel, that solved that problem. I think that overall the Nimravus in M2 is an excellent knife, I would definately recomend it.:)

Oh...I do likely my Nimravus (and my Stryker...and my......I could go on). Benchmade is a great company, making great knives. This is built on great customer service.

I have a Nimravus in M2 and a Yari. both are nice knives. the Yari has a better handle and the Nimravus has the better sheath.

Love the blade shape and style, and the M2 is awesome. What I don't like is the squareish shape of the handle. It wouldnt be much trouble for them to knock the corners off the handle, but they dont. Also, the handle could be a little longer. Maybe it's time for a revised version?

I agree with my fellow Dan on the handle size and shape.

Thanks for the review links.

For a few extra (or less) dollars though, I would consider one of the Swamprats...seriously tough knife. Of course it depends on what you plan on doing with it...:D Outstanding warranty...everyperson that owns one (including me) is extremely pleased with it.

I owned a 145HS for a couple days. Nicely proportioned little knife, had no real problems with it, but it just seemed like a tactical copy of my Marble's Sport 99's, and having a few of them.....

I do plan on doing some serious fondling of a 140 one of these days and see if it fills a niche or not. But either of the Nims should compare favorably to any similar sized knife, you just need to figure out which fits you best.

I'm a big fan of Benchmade but I don't think the Nimravus is very ergonomic. I've experienced a lot of discomfort while applying pressure to the knife during cutting. It'll really wear on you if you ever have to apply a lot of pressure behind the cut.
