Opinions on Norton 8000?

The highest grit stone I have is the Chosera 8000 and it's wonderful. But, I am who I am and I'm looking around. Just noticed the Norton 8000 and can't figure why it commonly goes for 120$+. Is it really that good? And what about it makes it worth more than a Chosera 8000 I paid 87$ for.

Edit; Yes, the Naniwa Snow White.

No experience with the Norton 8000, but I know it's extremely popular with people who sharpen straight razors.

I have the 4000/8000 combo stone. I use it for razors and it’s excellent. But I don’t have the Chosera so I can’t compare.

I think most guys have moved on from the Norton 8k's.
I don't use them so no first hand knowledge.

An older review but might be of some interest...

I own it. The Naniwa 8k stones dominate it, in my opinion. I don't think the Norton is bad (it is a completely acceptable stone, it is not a waste of money to buy one if you need an 8k), but you'll be downgrading if you go from Chosera 8k to the Norton 8k. I own the Naniwa Traditional 8k, the Naniwa 8k Snow White, and the Naniwa Superstone 8k and all of them exhibit better polish and grit consistency. While I do like my Norton 8k, given its price, it's near the bottom of my 8k recommendations list

FWIW, the Norton 4k/8k stone is around $98, which is a good deal IMO. I definitely wouldn't pay $120 for just the 8k.

Which of the 8k Naniwa's is your favorite?

The Snow White. Magnesia-bonded Naniwa is hnnnggg but I also really love the Traditional 8k. THey are very similar. Both stones, but particularly the Snow White, are two of my absolute favorite 8k stones. The Snow White may in fact be my favorite 8k.

For context on that statement:
In addition to the 3 aforementioned 8ks, I also own the Shapton Pro 8k, Glass 8k, Norton 8k, Kitayama 8K, Sharpening Supplies 8k, Pride 8k

You mean Naniwa 8000? Because the Naniwa Professional (Chosera) goes 1K-2K-3K-5K-10K.
Also the Chosera 5K goes for at least $120.

In any case, I believe Heavy Handed likes the Norton 8000.
I used a generalization. My understanding is the Snow White Super Finishing Stone is the exact same quality as the Chosera series. Is this splitting hairs, or is there really a difference in quality? Side note, I've emailed Naniwa 3 times with no responses. So getting specific information has been difficult.
