I always drop the point on mine. The blade shape is one that Inever really liked, so I drop it to between a drop point and spear point. Sometimes I'll just straiten out the point to a long strait clip. Then I lightly sand the wood all over, and put on a couple light coats of clear satin finish urethane. It gives a nice deeper look to the wood grain, and adds a bit of water resistance to it. Then a grease treatment to the pivot area. I use a pipe cleaner to liberally coat the inside of the pivot with Vasoline, and use the better halfs blow drier to warm and melt the vasoline into the wood. I do this about once a month for a few months, and I've got it to the point where I can submerge the knife in a glass of water for 30 minutes with no tightening of the joint due to wood swelling.
