Opinions on R.j Martins Q36 & Kirby Lamberts Claw

I've had a few Q 36's. RJ builds one fine knife, probably one of the finest flippers out right now.

Yeah it seems that their two of the hottest knifemakers right now. I've been talking to Kirby about some of his knives and I think I'm leaning towards the Claw but I'm just wondering how it'll feel in the hand because of the wierd handle shape. But I'm also very interested in R.j's Q36 but sadly he's not accepting orders right now.

RJ Martin's Q-36 is one of my two favorite knife designs of all time. He makes a killer folder and is such a nice guy to boot. AFAIK he is completely inundated with orders at the time so you may want to look around on the forums for one.

I've only owned one of Kirby's folders. I had a Sniper and it was an awesome blade. I've handled quite a few others and I'm always impressed with his build quaility, fit/finish, grinds, and overall quality. He makes a helluva folder.

Personally, I would go with an RJ Martin Q-36, but that's because I'm such a huge fan of his knives.

Yeah, I think I'm leaning more towards R.j's Q36. I've heard alot of really good things about his knives.

Does KL make a Ti-framelock?

sorry about the slightly off topic Q.I guess it's vaguely relative.

I don't think Kirby has done a framelock. His liner locks are always quite thick though.

RJ Martin makes a fantastic knife! I LOVED my Q-36. He also makes some of THE sharpest knives out there.

I am also a huge fan of Kirby Lambert. He makes a might fine knife!!

Wait now that I think about it I think he has. Check arizonacustoms.com or steel addiction in their previously sold items.

Your absolutely right. It looks like he made a few Incinerators, Infernos, and Fireballs with a framelock.

Hey, if someone were to sell a slightly used Q36 on the forums how much would you say it would go for?

Cool,Thanks:thumbup:

I always like KL's designs & have been longing to see a Ti-framelock from him.

Sorry 'bout the hijack:o

good luck on your quest:)

Personally, I think a slightly used Q-36 should be going for around $550 depending on the blade steel and scale material. I received my first Q-36 off the Bay for a little under $500 early this year and it was a slightly used Gen. 1 with CF scales and an S30V blade. I got lucky. Some of the asking prices right now are a bit high to me. I saw one somewhere for about $650. G-10 and an S30V blade. About $100 too much if you ask me.

If you start getting into exotic scale material and Damascus blades then you start getting into around the $1000 and more range.

Ok thats about what Kirby told me the knife I want is going to cost. But what I'm wanting is basically what you have so thanks for the info.
